Our flamenco class with Krasna runs on Thursdays at 6.30pm for intermediate level dancers and Wednesdays at 7.30pm for beginners
The flamenco class focuses on technique and interpretation. We also work on footwork and the gradual understanding of flamenco music and timing. We start with a gentle warm up and then simple 4 beat concepts are introduced. These concepts are easy to learn and help students to dance and flamenco timing in a simple way.
Generally the class continues with moves gradually increasing in complexity. And finally we work on the assembly of a choreography in which all the elements taught in the class are gradually introduced. During the class the students will learn the different rhythms of flamenco, starting with the simplest, 4 beat timing and ending with the most complex, of 12 beat timing.
In each class, the importance of listening to music and understanding song is emphasized. This helps reinforce the interpretation and improve the musical ear. Through flamenco students discover their strength and rhythmic and interpretative skills.
This is a 10-week course over the duration of which you will learn a full choreography to be performed at the Viva Family Show on October 17th. You do not have to perform to join the course but it is highly recommended!
