Our flamenco classes run on Thursdays at 6.30pm for continuing students and Wednesdays at 7.30pm for beginners
This class is suitable for total beginners and anyone wanting to focus on and perfect flamenco technique and concepts. We recommend attending a few beginner level courses as flamenco is a complex and fascinating dance style that takes time to master
The flamenco class focuses on technique and interpretation. We also work on footwork and the gradual understanding of flamenco music and timing. We start with a gentle warm up and then simple 4 beat concepts are introduced. These concepts are easy to learn and help students to dance and understand flamenco timing in a simple way.
Generally the class continues with moves gradually increasing in complexity. And finally we work on the assembly of a choreography in which all the elements taught in the class are gradually introduced. During the class the students will learn the different rhythms of flamenco, starting with the simplest, 4 beat timing and ending with the most complex, of 12 beat timing.
In each class, the importance of listening to music and understanding song is emphasized. This helps reinforce the interpretation and improve the musical ear. Through flamenco students discover their strength and rhythmic and interpretative skills.
