roar 2For anyone who want’s a chance to strut their stuff on stage, a share of the limelight, experience the journey of putting on a show and being part of a team, as well as ramping up their dancing prowess – performance courses are for you!

This is a 14 week course aimed at performing at all of the events at the end of the year. Classes are 2 hours long on Saturday afternoons. For improver and above level salsa dancers.

If you are interested and unsure of your level, feel free to come to the first session at no obligation to try it out.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT IF I JOIN THE TEAM?

…in the 14 week course

  • In the first week we will spend a little time getting to know each other and will get stuck right in to learning the choreography. You will be sent the song to listen to. You will be added to a Facebook group related to your team where any information you need to know will be posted.
  • By week 3 or 4 we will assign you with a partner. If you connect with somebody please do let us know otherwise we will pair you up according to your height and skill.
  • It’s normal to feel out of your depth in the first few weeks because it may seem like we don’t spend a lot of time going over all the details. That’s ok, we spend time polishing towards the end of the course.
  • After you have an idea of what it looks like as a whole, we will spend the remaining weeks breaking it down into sections where we can focus on technique and polish you into a great looking team as well as working on formations (the position or positions you will be in when you perform).
  • Towards the end of the course we will start to prepare you for performing, including impromptu performances in front of your peers! It’s a great way to get some feedback and to experience the rush of dancing in front of other people.

bazouka team…in a single training session

  • In the first 10 minutes of a class one of the instructors will take a class warm up followed by a set of stretches.
  • The rest of the time is spent on whatever is relevant for that particular lesson. At the end you can video what has been taught that day so you can go over it at home.
  • In the last 5 minutes we go over any notices that we have or any information that you might need.

…from us

  • You can expect us to be skilled dancers and be able to pass on our knowledge to you.
  • Be understanding, patient and kind.
  • Help you with problems and answer any questions you may have.
  • Listen to your needs and strive to help you learn in the best way for you.
  • Teach you correct technique and be detailed in our approach.
  • Be great leaders
  • Make sure you’re all having fun!

What we expect from you

  • Commitment to the team.
  • To turn up on time for training and performances and be ready to get started straight away.
  • To be respectful of the teachers and your team mates.
  • To listen and try your hardest.
  • To speak up if you have any questions.
  • To let us know in advance if aren’t able to make it to any training sessions.
  • To listen to the song and watch any videos that are posted on the Facebook group.
  • To read any information posted on the Facebook group and be responsible for it e.g. knowing when to turn up for extra practices or when costume fittings are.
